How do you let someone know you only want to be with them? Relationships are a beautiful development of two people spending quality time together. They share their time, thoughts, feelings, likes, dislikes and perspectives. You laugh together one minute and then may have a deep or meaningful conversation the next. There is no set pattern to follow. What you must follow is your heart and mind working together using intelligent logic while allowing your intuition or instinct to guide you so you can see things clearly.
If the actions you both share is that of constant communication, then chances are that you are already on your way to being exclusive. The best way is to let it happen naturally while being clear with communication. As you date, he may introduce you to someone as his girlfriend. Later you can say that you do think of one another as boyfriend and girlfriend and have no desire to date anyone but him. He then agrees feeling the same way, and there you have your exclusive relationship.
If you have a situation that is not as easy to figure out, do not rush it. Watch the actions of the one you are dating. Is he keeping you a secret from his friends? Does he disappear on the weekend? Is he last minute in making plans with you? These are signs that he is seeing others or that he is still open to meeting others. If you do not feel you are a priority and you are looking for a relationship to be exclusive, back off slowly and see what happens. If he lets you go, at least you know he is not relationship material. If he comes after you, you made him realize that he does not want to loose you. Take your time and see if he becomes more attentive. Sometimes we do not know what we want until it is right in front of us. Give him time to process. If he starts including you more into his life, you are getting closer to that exclusive relationship. You can confirm in conversation that he is the only one you are seeing. Do not push for a response, just observe and watch where he takes it. Have a mature conversation about your values. Let him know that multi dating is not your thing. If he truly cares about you he will respect this and only see you if he is ready. Timing has so much to do with it. If the feelings you have for one another are strong, having one another in each other’s lives will make life better, no matter what else is going on. To have someone in your life that genuinely cares about you is priceless.
