In any relationship, new or established, to assume always gets us into trouble. Over analyzing everything our partner does or does not do is a quick road to disaster. Assuming can cause confusion, hurt feelings, misconceptions and false realities. When the thoughts of assumptions are held onto, they can lead one into feeling as though these thoughts really happened, which then leaves a person feeling as though they need an explanation when nothing has happened. We need to remember to ride the wave and let relationships happen naturally.
Where does the need to make assumptions come from? Usually it starts when we question whether or not we can trust someone. If this is the case, your intuition is already telling you something. Ask questions showing concern about your partners well being. Create an opportunity for open communication. To know that we can trust our partner is the foundation of a relationship and even more importantly, knowing that our partner is worthy of our trust.
Observe their behavior and let their actions show you who they truly are. Actions always speak louder than words.
